BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME INITIATED | 27 May 2009

In line with corporate commitment to maintain on-going staff development and training, leading fabricators frameXpress Ltd has initiated a Business Improvement Programme in order to maintain only the highest standards – not only for the company but also for customers.

Fourteen candidates have been enrolled onto the City and Guilds Business Improvement Techniques programme, introduced by Directors Stuart Green and Mark Westbrook. Working in conjunction with Matrix Training and Development, staff members must work on a number of mandatory units relating to Statutory Regulations as well as Health and Safety requirements.

Additionally candidates will be requited to create visual management systems and apply improved workplace organisation as well as continuous improvement techniques. Other areas incorporated into the course include lead time analysis, process control procedures and total productive maintenance.

The course will take place in-house, during working hours to ensure that practice and theory can be combined quickly and effectively, without too much disruption to production. Senior management have introduced these measures to ensure that customers will benefit from consistently high production methods at frameXpress.

The programme provides evaluation techniques, ascertains levels of strengths and weaknesses for individual candidates and then develops the course in line with individual requirements. With on-site evaluation this ensures that the company can maintain production levels whilst at the same time offers recognised City and Guild qualifications to those staff who want to progress further within the industry.

Barry Sumnall, Health and Safety Manager comments, “At frameXpress we intend to make certain that staff are encouraged and trained to the highest standards. We feel this not only boosts staff morale but also benefits both the company and its customers in terms of the levels of service provided. The course will run for a 4 month period, however its duration does depend upon output and how busy the company is at any given time. We try to offer candidates as much support as possible in order to achieve their aims.”

Further training courses will be run by frameXpress throughout the year for staff in various departments as part of the ongoing training and development initiative.
